Junkosha extends 0.5 psec skew matching capability to 0.8 mm connector for high-frequency testing applications
Junkosha addresses the growing test and measurement challenges of maintaining skew matching at 145 GHz with its latest high-frequency cable and connector technology

ECOC Stand: 2046
At ECOC 2026, global interconnect pioneers Junkosha will show how it is tackling a major challenge facing test engineers working at 110 GHz and above: maintaining picosecond-level timing precision in connectors small enough for modern high-frequency test setups. With its new capability combining 0.5 psec skew matching with robust 0.8 mm and 1.0 mm connectors, Junkosha® Microwave/mmWave Coaxial Cable Assembly supports increasingly demanding high-speed measurement and optical communication applications.
Modern high-speed interfaces operate in a world of tiny fractions of a nanosecond, where the transition times between a cable, test instrument, and Device Under Test (DUT) is in the realm of picoseconds. At data rates of 400 Gb/s and beyond, timing sensitivity has become a critical issue. Building on its expertise in precision cable engineering and 0.5 psec skew matching which ensures differential signals remain aligned even at 145 GHz, Junkosha has extended this capability to its 0.8 mm connector. This enables engineers to control signal loss, timing differences between channels, and the mechanical robustness of the connection by providing the precision required to maintain signal integrity at the upper end of the frequency spectrum.
“At high data rates, intra-pair skew has evolved into an increasingly complex and pressing challenge; even extremely small differences in signal propagation time can become significant,” explains Tomohiro Ogawa, Product Manager for Junkosha. “0.5 psec skew matching enables engineers to minimize jitter, supporting more accurate characterization of high-speed devices and systems. With signalling fundamentals now crossing over the 110 GHz divide, the connector, cable attachment, and interface to the DUT all contribute to the overall measurement performance and repeatability”
Given the precise measurements required to verify today’s high-speed designs, protecting the interface and maintaining consistent alignment becomes increasingly challenging. Junkosha addresses this with a two-stage connection process that retracts the centre pin into the connector during attachment. Once secured and aligned, the centre pin advances to complete the connection. This helps protect one of the most sensitive components during coupling, reducing the risk of mechanical damage while supporting consistent physical contact and maintaining signal integrity.
“At Junkosha, we understand the hidden challenges of instrumentation bandwidth and high precision skew management as test platforms advance to higher frequencies. By combining robust connector design with controlled cable construction, our aim is to provide interconnects that maintain consistent performance over repeated connection cycles,” concludes Ogawa.
Junkosha will be exhibiting its 0.8 mm connector alongside the 0.5 mm ruggedized connector and MWX0A5 Microwave/mmWave Coaxial Cable Assembly at ECOC from September 21 – 23.
