SEMICON West chosen to demonstrate collaborative approach to developing application-specific cable solutions for space-constrained semiconductor equipment manufacturers

SEMICON West booth: Hall A/464

October 12th , 2026 – Junkosha, a specialist in advanced cable solutions for semiconductor manufacturing equipment, has chosen this year’s SEMICON West event to announce its Junkosha® Super Low Outgassing Cable portfolio with a new 1 mm pitch configuration.1 Custom engineered to meet the semiconductor industry’s growing demand for precise performance in a flexible and lightweight package, Junkosha is addressing the industry’s challenges around space constraints and motion applications by strengthening its focus on collaborative cable engineering. Working directly with semiconductor equipment manufacturers, Junkosha develops, tests and refines cable solutions around their specific application requirements.

Semiconductor manufacturing equipment provides particularly demanding environments for cable integration. For ultra-high vacuum chambers in particular, the challenges are specific. Available space can be extremely limited, while cable routing, movement and mechanical interfaces are often already established as part of the equipment design. In vacuum chamber environments with moving parts, such as linear stages integrated with motors and encoders, a cable that is only marginally wider than the standard design can create significant challenges. It may require a different routing arrangement, introduce a second cable layer or require changes to mechanical components and existing assembly tooling.

This approach is demonstrated by the new 1 mm pitch Junkosha Super Low Outgassing Cable configurations, which have been engineered for complex high vacuum environments while minimizing the need to redesign surrounding equipment. The cables have achieved a flex life of 30 million cycles at a 70 mm bending radius in our test facility, making them the ideal choice for high-flex applications. This specialized cable design was tested in collaboration with customer engineering teams to ensure it meets equipment requirements, with supporting durability data demonstrating its suitability for demanding, repeated-motion applications.

The unique, customer focused approach also extends across the entire cable development and production process. Junkosha can support prototype quantities from 20 m, followed by typical minimum production order quantities of approximately 50 - 100 m. This provides flexibility for both new product launches and ongoing production maintenance, while also supporting the development of new equipment or evaluation of an alternative cable source without requiring a commitment to high production volumes at the outset. All of this translates to reduced maintenance and downtime while significantly lowering total cost of ownership.

“Developing the 1 mm cable construction was driven by a clear customer need,” adds Jason Davis, New Business Development for Junkosha. By combining the ability to manufacture narrower cable construction with application-specific engineering support, lower volume production capability and collaborative testing, Junkosha aims to make it easier for customers to evaluate an alternative cable source while minimizing disruption to established equipment designs.”

Junkosha will be exhibiting its new Junkosha Super Low Outgassing Cable solution at the SEMICON West exhibition from October 13-15, 2026.
